Wing Wah Chinese Restaurant

Our Take

Here’s the tell that Wing Wah is the real deal: when Chinese families sit down, they’re handed a different menu. Tucked into a strip mall at 13 Mile and Hayes, this family-run Warren favorite keeps two menus going — the familiar American-Chinese greatest hits (almond boneless chicken, sweet-and-sour, General Tso’s, all in portions built for leftovers) and a deeper, more adventurous authentic Chinese one spanning Cantonese, Mandarin, and Szechuan, hot pots and spicy-salt squid included. It doesn’t look like much from the parking lot — locals admit they drove past it for years — but inside it’s clean, bright, and consistently excellent, with fair prices and a server or two who somehow run the whole room. It’s the kind of dependable neighborhood Chinese spot every town wishes it had and Warren actually does. On our list as the east side’s quiet Chinese-food champion.
