Dragonmead Microbrewery

Our Take

Warren isn’t the first place most people picture for a pilgrimage-worthy pint, which is exactly why Dragonmead has stayed such a quietly kept secret for more than 20 years. This unassuming microbrewery pours something like 40 styles at any given time — a genuinely staggering range spanning American, English, German, Belgian, Scottish, and Russian traditions — made by people who clearly care more about what’s in the glass than what’s on the walls. The flagship, a Belgian-style tripel called Final Absolution, has the medals to back up the hype. It’s proudly no-frills: communal tables, a friendly crowd of all ages, live entertainment through the week, and a small food menu (or order barbecue from the smokehouse and have it brought to your table, no upcharge). Come for a flight and let the staff walk you through styles you didn’t know you liked. On our list as one of Warren‘s most serious — and least pretentious — destinations, hiding in plain sight.
