Mike and Andrea in downtown Detroit

Who’s behind this

We chose this place — and we’re still obsessed.

Transplants who fell hard for metro Detroit, moved in, and never looked back. We explore our own backyard the way you would a place you picked on purpose — fresh eyes, high standards, and two careers’ worth of knowing what “worth it” actually feels like.

Andrea spent nearly two decades leading luxury spas and guest experience. She clocks the service details most people never notice — and won’t let a place slide on them.

Mike produced events across the country for 25+ years (four Super Bowls among them) before turning fresh eyes on his adopted metro.

Bruce Lee, our pug, supervises the patio-and-snack research. Strictly.

Why we passed

Not everything makes the cut.

Every so often we share the places we visited and quietly decided not to feature — no names, just what keeps a spot off the list. Because if Delovely Detroit put it here, it should mean something.
