The décor gets to you before the menu does. Taco Tequila Y Mas is bright, colorful and decidedly modern, the kind of room where half the tables are snapping photos before the food lands. If that’s your thing, you won’t run out of backdrops.
The menu is big: tacos, Mexican pizza, burrito and enchilada plates, plus a breakfast menu we haven’t gotten to yet. We started with the aguachile rojo, shrimp marinated in citrus and served in a spicy sauce, and it was the most flavorful thing on the table, with a real kick behind it. The fish taco and the Sinaloa steak taco were both delicious and more filling than a taco has any right to be. The carne asada dinner plate closed things out in good shape. Nothing we ordered missed.
There’s a patio when the weather cooperates. This is an easy yes for a group that wants color, flavor and a good time without a big-night price tag, and a solid argument that John R deserves more of your attention. If the crew wants to keep the evening going in Madison Heights, Cadillac Straits Brewing is right here in town for a round of beers.
