Yard House Troy

Our Take

Look, we’re not going to pretend Yard House is a hidden gem — it’s a national chain, anchored to the City Center shops near Big Beaver. But here’s the honest truth: it’s a good one, and it earns its spot when you want something reliable, lively, and low-key without an hour-long wait.

We came for happy hour and left genuinely impressed by the appetizers. The poke nachos were the surprise standout — crisp, fresh, and gone embarrassingly fast — and the blackened ahi sashimi was right behind them, seared and clean and exactly what you want with a cold drink. The sliders were perfectly good, but honestly got upstaged by those two; order accordingly. And the namesake draws here too: Yard House is built around a genuinely enormous list of beers on tap, so there’s something for every preference, plus a deep bench of cocktails and mocktails.

It’s bright, big, and buzzy — the kind of place that works for a group, a casual date, or a bite before a movie at the nearby theaters. Don’t come expecting intimate or undiscovered. Come for a fun, dependable happy hour where the apps punch above their weight. On that count, it delivers.

  • Don’t miss: Poke nachos and the blackened ahi sashimi (the two app standouts); the massive draft beer list
  • Good to know: Huge menu, huge beer selection, big buzzy room; great for groups and pre-movie/pre-show; happy hour is the move
  • Watch out for: It’s a high-energy chain, so it can get loud and busy; a few reviewers noted the occasional over-cooked entrée — the apps and happy hour are the safer, brighter bet
