Meta Physica opened in Corktown after massage therapist Jenaveve Biernat and her former client Anahi Hollis won Detroit’s Hatch Detroit contest and decided self-care shouldn’t be a luxury reserved for one splurge a year. The result is a compact, women-owned wellness center built around private full-spectrum infrared saunas — among the only ones of their kind in the city, and worth the visit on their own — plus therapeutic massage, community acupuncture priced to be actually accessible, and an organic raw juice bar for after.
It’s a small operation, which is part of the appeal: this isn’t a sprawling resort spa, it’s a neighborhood spot where the infrared sauna comes with your choice of Spotify playlist and the massage therapist actually remembers your name. The center sits inside a historic Corktown building alongside a cluster of other women-owned businesses, which tracks with the whole vibe.
On our radar for anyone who wants the sweat-and-reset combo without booking a whole spa day, or who’s been curious about infrared therapy but hasn’t found the right entry point yet.
