Meadow Brook Amphitheatre

Tucked into the trees on the Oakland University campus, Meadow Brook Amphitheatre has been Metro Detroit’s summer-concert secret since 1964 — it opened as the warm-weather home of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra before growing into a rock-pop-country-everything stage. Capacity tops out around 7,700, which is exactly the appeal: the Howard C. Baldwin Pavilion keeps the reserved seats under cover, the lawn slopes back into the woods, and even the far seats feel close compared to the arena down the road. Run these days by 313 Presents, it books a genuinely eclectic May-to-October lineup, and the wooded setting makes it one of the more pleasant places in the region to catch a show. It shares an estate with Meadow Brook Hall, so an early-evening mansion tour rolling into a night concert is an easy, only-in-Rochester Hills double bill. On our list for warm-weather nights out.
