“Flying Geese” by Marshall Fredericks

Our Take

Look up, not down. “Flying Geese” is a soaring bronze by Marshall Fredericks — the sculptor Detroit knows best for the Spirit of Detroit downtown — depicting geese rising in flight, a quiet emblem of freedom and the soul’s migration. It’s one of the loveliest things at Elmwood, and proof that a great cemetery is also an open-air sculpture park.

On our list for anyone who loves finding real public art in unexpected places.
