Feel swanky in Ferndale. Belle’s is Valentine Distilling’s cocktail lounge, set in the distillery’s original building, and the room commits to the bit — red velvet love seats, a chandelier, warm theater-style decor, and background music at a luxury-hotel-lobby volume: a little louder than a whisper, never overbearing. We ordered a Pingree’s Old Fashioned with their rye — dangerously easy to drink — and a special-menu cocktail called the Sandstorm, whose habanero bitters made it almost too spicy to finish. Consider that a dare, not a warning. The staff were attentive and kind, happy to field every question we threw at them, which made the whole visit better.
Know going in: they pour Valentine spirits exclusively — it’s the distillery’s own bar, after all — so it’s cocktails first, a couple of beers available, no wine, and the food stops at a few small bites. The spacious front patio earns its own mention: fire pits for the cooler nights, genuinely lovely on a perfect-weather day, and dog-friendly for the well-behaved. You’re also perfectly positioned for a full Ferndale evening — Syndicate is directly across the street, Voyager is just down Vester, and the classics at Nine Mile and Woodward are around the corner.
