Turning 50 calls for a little reflection, a little celebration, and — if you’re Andrea — a little birthday Dysport. We’re still newish to metro Detroit and still assembling our list of people and places for everything from dinner to somewhere to actually be taken care of, and Glam Jail earned the appointment on easy online booking, a deep treatment menu, and a personality that was audibly not clinical.

It does not look like a doctor’s office, and thank goodness. Every room has its own theme — butterflies, peacocks, suspended feathers, patterned wallpaper doing a great deal of work — and even the treatment rooms feel curated rather than decorated. It is girls’-girl energy: polished, playful, and built for women who take their skin seriously and have no interest in pretending otherwise.

Founder Aya Restrepo, a PA-C, organizes her plans around three pillars: the canvas (skin quality and texture), the ridges (expression lines), and the angles (contour and volume). Not everyone needs work in all three — the point is a shared vocabulary for looking at a whole face instead of one wrinkle at a time. She also offered a VISIA scan, which maps sun damage, pores, and texture in high resolution. It is informative. It is useful. It is not necessarily kind.

One honest note, because it belongs here: Aya recommended substantially more Dysport than Andrea typically receives, roughly doubling her usual cost for this kind of appointment. Andrea went ahead with it. Different injectors have different philosophies, and a thoughtful approach and a bigger-than-expected number can both be true at once — but ask for your unit count and estimated total before anyone picks up a needle, and say so if you want a lighter hand. It is your face and your budget.

Among Birmingham’s spa and wellness options, this is the one with the strongest point of view. Aya treats aesthetics as wellness, information, and art rather than something cold or corrective — with enough peacock wallpaper to make the point unmissable.
