This family-run canoe, kayak, and paddleboard outfitter has been putting people onto the Huron River for decades, and its primary launch sits on a gentle, tree-shaded stretch inside the Proud Lake Recreation Area where the current runs an easy 2–3 mph — calm enough that they routinely send out families with little kids and first-timers who’ve never held a paddle. Float downstream through the greenery toward Milford, portage the dam if you’re feeling ambitious, or keep it simple with an out-and-back; on weekends they also run a location on Kent Lake in Kensington for open-water paddling.
