Clawson Historical Museum

Every small town deserves a keeper of its own story, and Clawson’s lives in a three-story house on Fisher Court. Built around 1919 and furnished to look the way it did a century ago, the Clawson Historical Museum is a genuinely charming little time capsule: a basement full of the tools and contraptions that ran a 1920s household, a top floor split between local history and a room of antique toys that lets kids see how children played back then, and a rotating exhibit that changes through the year (a recent one dug into Clawson’s surprising trove of century-old “kit homes”). Admission is free, and the curator is known for tailoring walk-in and group tours to whoever shows up.

It won’t eat your whole afternoon — it’s a small, lovingly kept place, open just a few hours a week — but that’s part of the charm, and it’s a lovely, low-key thing to do with kids or out-of-town guests curious about the Clawson beyond its restaurants.
