The Meeting House

Our Take

If Lipuma’s is Rochester’s comfort food, The Meeting House is where the town goes when it wants to dress the meal up a little. Open on Main Street since 2012, it’s a neighborhood restaurant in the best sense — seasonal, imaginative American cooking (short rib enchiladas, steak frites, Brussels sprouts people actually order on purpose, house-made ice cream) served in a warm, slightly-chic room with cocktails to match. There’s a genuinely good weekend brunch, a kitchen that leans into vegetables and rotates the menu with the seasons, and the kind of personality-driven service that turns a first visit into a standing reservation. It’s not cheap and it’s not trying to be the flashiest thing in town; it’s the dependable, grown-up option that makes date night or a celebratory dinner easy. On our list as one of downtown Rochester’s most reliable sit-down pleasures.
