Pink Garlic Indian Cuisine

Our Take

Metro Detroit is not short on Indian restaurants, which makes it notable that Pink Garlic keeps landing on locals’ “actually the best” list. This Coolidge Highway spot turns out a deep menu of richly spiced classics — butter chicken and tikka masala, biryani, creamy saag paneer, lamb and goat vindaloo — plus a genuinely broad range of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-friendly options and a whole wall of naan. The food is halal, the portions are generous, and regulars will tell you the leftovers somehow taste even better the next day.

Set expectations correctly and you’ll be delighted: this is a small, carry-out-first storefront, not a sit-down-and-linger dining room, and the little lot fills fast (there’s more parking across the street). Order ahead, especially on a weekend. It’s on our list as Oak Park’s go-to for a reliably excellent Indian dinner at home — and if you’re building an Oak Park rotation, it pairs naturally with Nawab a few minutes away in Berkley.
