Nawab British Indian Cuisine

Our Take

Nawab brings proper Indian cooking to Berkley‘s Twelve Mile stretch — and it comes with a pedigree: it’s run by the same family behind Ferndale’s long-loved Star of India. “Nawab” means royalty, and the kitchen backs up the name with fresh, richly spiced classics: butter chicken and tikka masala, biryani, creamy saag paneer, and a whole range of naan, from garlic-and-cheese to nut-and-fruit-stuffed Peshwari. Portions are generous, and locals swear it’s even better as next-day leftovers.

It’s a tidy, welcoming, unpretentious spot that’s more about the food than the frills. We have it on our list as Berkley’s go-to for a family-friendly Indian dinner or a reliable takeout order — the kind of neighborhood standby every good town needs. Get the saag paneer and don’t skimp on the naan.
