Big Rock reopened in 2025 as an Italian chophouse from Cameron Mitchell Restaurants, and the setting alone is worth the reservation: it lives inside Birmingham‘s historic Grand Trunk Western Railroad depot, all old-school railway-station charm. The concept marries a premium USDA-prime steakhouse with upscale Italian — think chops and dry-aged cuts alongside handmade pasta, veal parm, and branzino, all made in-house.
It’s polished, clubby, and built for an event — a big anniversary, a celebratory group, a serious steak craving — with a cigar lounge attached for good measure. We have it on our list as one of Birmingham’s marquee special-occasion rooms, the sort of place you save for a night that deserves a white tablecloth and a good bottle. Come hungry; the portions match the ambition.
