Tucked into the same downtown Saginaw Street building as a couple of Pontiac’s other good ideas, Kegger Burger has quietly built a reputation that punches well above ‘burger joint.’ The pitch is simple and the execution isn’t: a custom blend of sirloin, brisket, and short rib, griddled and stacked with the house Kegger sauce on a proper potato bun, with fries that convert even the steak-fry skeptics. Regulars will tell you it’s in the conversation for best burger in the metro, and the prices make that an easy argument to have — a double that shames a chain slider for a couple bucks less. It’s more polished than a taproom without losing the neighborhood ease: a real craft-beer list plus wine, cider, and even mead, cocktails if you want them, and genuinely good veggie patties for the non-burger friend you’re dragging along. Come before a show at the theater a few doors down, or make it the whole plan.
