Ghost Modern Mexican

Our Take

Woodward and South Boulevard is the kind of corner you drive past a thousand times without stopping — until someone finally puts something worth stopping for on it. Ghost Modern Mexican is that something: a funky, Day-of-the-Dead-muraled taco spot that opened in 2025 as the second act to a Shelby Township original, and it’s been quietly winning over the lunch-and-networking crowd ever since. The menu leans modern without losing the plot — quesabirria tacos, a much-talked-about birria pizza, and seasoned fries that regulars will fight you over. Pick your protein (citrus pork, grilled steak, shredded chicken, a veggie option), start with chips and salsa, and know going in that the kitchen moves fast even when the room is full. One honest heads-up: Ghost pours mocktails, not cocktails — the mango and horchata versions are genuinely good, but if a margarita is non-negotiable, plan accordingly. It’s an easy, stylish, celebration-every-day kind of spot, and a sign of how much downtown Pontiac has going on these days. On our list, and high on it.
