At the McNichols end of the Livernois corridor, Detroit Sip is the neighborhood’s living room with a great cup of coffee. Black woman-owned by Jevona Watson, it opened as part of the Live6 revival around Livernois and McNichols and quickly became a community fixture — espresso drinks, light bites, and a warm, welcoming room that hosts everything from study sessions to local events.
It’s the kind of independent coffee shop that anchors a comeback: a place to start an Avenue of Fashion morning, or to land after a stroll up Livernois. Owner-run, neighborhood-rooted, and exactly the kind of spot worth driving across town for.
