Country Oven

Our Take

Every good suburb has its family diner — the one where the coffee’s always coming and the regulars have a usual — and in Warren that’s Country Oven. It’s a Greek-owned, family-run spot on Hoover Road doing exactly what a great diner should: an enormous all-day menu that swings from a proper big breakfast (this is where the town comes for eggs, and the breakfast deals run till 11) to homemade soups, chicken pot pie under a flaky crust, open-faced roast beef and meatloaf drowned in gravy, and Greek-diner touches like gyro-and-shish pita plates and a loaded Greek salad. Portions are generous, prices are gentle, and the whole thing runs on the kind of unhurried, first-name-basis warmth that keeps a place busy without ever feeling frantic. It isn’t fancy and isn’t trying to be — it’s the reliable, comforting, any-meal-of-the-day neighborhood standby every town wishes it had. On our list as Warren’s diner of record.
