Shelby Township Farmers Market

Our Take

Here’s a farmers market with a backstory: Shelby Township’s market (sometimes called the Packard Farmers Market) is held at the historic Packard Proving Grounds, the very site where Packard once tested its luxury automobiles on a 1920s Albert Kahn-designed oval. Running Saturdays from roughly mid-May through October, it pairs local Michigan growers and makers — produce, flowers, baked goods, and specialty foods — with a genuinely cool, history-rich setting you won’t find at a typical strip-mall-lot market. It’s a lovely way to support local while soaking up a piece of automotive history, and an easy add-on to a day at nearby Stony Creek Metropark. A standout market for the setting alone.
