The Clothing Cove

The Clothing Cove is the kind of independent women’s boutique that people drive in from other towns for — and have been, from this same Main Street spot, since 1987. It started as an exercise studio that sold cute workout gear, and the owners loved dressing the women of Milford so much they dropped the treadmills and never looked back. Nearly four decades later it’s a genuine institution: a ‘dress store’ with a staggering 2,000-plus gowns for mothers of the bride and groom, prom, and every special occasion, alongside trendy everyday labels, jewelry, accessories, and a Brighton collection, plus a full alterations department to make it all fit. It’s racked up ‘Best Women’s Boutique’ honors from the Detroit A-List to the Oakland Press, and the welcoming, actually-helpful service is the whole point. There’s even a casual sister shop next door, Tenacity Boutique, that gives back to an anti-trafficking nonprofit. On our list as the women-first shopping heart of downtown Milford — come for the dress, stay for the fuss-over-you service.
