Coratti’s on Main

Our Take

Every walkable downtown worth its salt has a real Italian restaurant — not a chain, not a red-sauce cliché, but a family place with actual people behind it — and in Milford that’s Coratti’s on Main. The Coratti family, a big close-knit Italian clan out of Detroit, opened it in 2008, and it still runs on that make-you-feel-like-family warmth. The menu goes well past the expected, from Coratti staples like eggplant parmesan and mozzarella caprese to more adventurous plates — vitello saltimbocca, artichoke Tosca, wild mushroom cannelloni — plus a build-your-own-pasta section for the picky and a wine list drawn from vineyards around the world. It’s earned its reputation the honest way (the Oakland Press named it a Top 10 restaurant in the county), and the seasonal wine-tasting dinners are a lovely excuse to make a night of it. Rustic, warm, and squarely in the heart of downtown, it’s a natural for date night, a family dinner, or a celebration. On our list as Milford‘s go-to for genuine, generous Italian.
